This NGO is focused on strengthening marginalized communities by addressing the needs of women and youth in the Cape Town area. The organisation is specifically concerned with giving these members access to programmes and education related to health, skills training, capacity-building, and personal development. They incorporate entrepreneurship to encourage people in under-resourced communities to utilise readily-available materials to create profit-generating items. They are seeking interns who can lend a hand with organisational and programme support. Due to the sensitive nature of the projects, interns will not engage directly with the beneficiaries, but will offer the organisation back-end support (equally as important). This is a great opportunity for an intern interested in working with an organisation that focuses on self-empowerment and skills-building.

Why does this matter?
In terms of sustainable development and long-lasting impact, offering training and capacity-building support is the most effective approach. Many organisations have implemented projects, but have not enacted systems to ensure long-term sustainability. This organisation accomplishes its mission by sharing responsibility with its beneficiaries and advocates. This shared sense of responsibility is what drives their continued success in equipping participants with much needed skills to support the development of South Africa.
