At-Risk Youth Development

This NGO believes in the power of youth. They feel that with the right guidance and love, young people can be agents of change in their own lives as well as in their community. They are seeking an intern who can use their creativity and compassion for at-risk youth to build a better program.  While they are looking for marketing help, website redesign, and administrative assistance they are open to implementing new plans for action. They are especially keen to have interns who would like to help with the initial set-up of a new live-in facility for some of the young people who participate in their programme.

Why does this matter?
Due to the massive disparities in socio-economic realities found across South Africa, there is a large population of young people who are unable to reside at home with their families. As a result of poverty, gang activity, familial rejection and substance abuse these young people are unable to attend school or find steady employment. This organisation is working with these young people to help them develop skills to support themselves in a healthier way so they can become contributing members of society.
